Sport Concussion Management For Bay Area Athletes
With Clinics Serving Athletes In Contra Costa And Marin County
 Welcome to the Sport Concussion Program. This program began in 2006 and since that time we have provided pre-injury baseline testing and post-injury care and management to dozens of athletes in the Bay Area. You may have noticed over the last couple of years that concussion in sports has become a hot topic of concern for doctors, athletes, parents and coaches. I have seen first hand the negative consequences that arise when these injuries are mismanaged. The mission of this program is to provide comprehensive concussion injury management through education, neuropsychological evaluation, academic support and return to play consultation. When Can An Athlete Return To Play After a Concussion? |

While most athletes will return to normal within a few days to weeks after a concussion, a large percentage may continue to be symptomatic, even after a mild injury, for several weeks or longer. After a concussion, a player may get conflicting advice about when it is safe to return to play. Treatment protocols that utilize arbitrary return to play time frames or the subjective report of an athlete's symptoms, places an athlete at unneccesary risk toward further and potentially more serious brain injury. read more
